Ludovic Obraniak is glad that Lille will have their destiny in their own hands when they face Trabzonspor in the Champions League.
The French outfit go into the game at the Stade Lille-Metropole in third place in Group B, one point adrift of their Turkish opponents, so victory on Wednesday will secure a place in the quarter-finals.
Obraniak is well aware that Lille’s task is not an easy one, but he does believe that home advantage will prove decisive.
“The game against Trabzonspor is very important,” Obraniak told Larque Foot. “The second round is a true honour.”
“We have already done it before and, with heart, we can do it again. Playing at home, we hold all the cards.”
Lille go into the crunch clash on the back of a 3-2 Ligue 1 victory over Ajaccio, a game in which Obraniak scored.
“It was (a) very complicated (game),” he said. “It was never easy. Ajaccio had focused on the physical challenge. This is a very important victory.”
Lille coach Rudi Garcia was also enthused with the triumph, which lifted his side up to second in Ligue 1, five points behind leaders Montpellier.
“We were expecting a tough game against a tough team,” Garcia old the official Ligue 1 website. “It wasn’t easy and the pitch was in a terrible state.”
“The objective was to win and, from the way the players went about their business, I think this was the best possible preparation for the match that everyone is waiting for on Wednesday evening.”
